U-Pick Tulip Field Frequently Asked Questions

When will the tulip fields open to the public?

**We have changed our opening weekend from Friday, April 25th to Friday, May 2nd**

Our 2025 season starts on Friday, May 2nd. Our last day will be Sunday, May 18th. We have new hours this year! The field will be staying open until 8pm on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays. Watch our Instagram and Facebook pages for additional information.

When is the best time to visit the field?

There is no right or wrong time to visit the tulip field. Our first weekend (May 3 & 4) we will be hosting our first BerkelBloem Tulip Festival. This weekend will have our early tulips in full bloom and our mid season tulips at their perfect stage for picking. Our second weekend (May10 & 11) will transition to our mid season tulips in full bloom and our late season tulips ready for picking. By our last weekend (May 17 & 18) we expect all of our tulip varieties will be in bloom, with our early varieties passed their prime.

How much are tickets?

We have increased our ticket prices for the 2025 season. However, you can still get an early bird ticket for $15 (last year's price) until our opening day. Starting May 2nd tickets will be $17 each. Children under 5 are free.

What is included with each ticket?

Each entrance ticket to our tulip field comes with 10 tulips which you will pick yourself. When you are ready, you bring your 10 tulips to our wrapping station where we will trim and wrap your tulips in a beautiful bouquet for you to take home.

Do I need to purchase a ticket beforehand, or can I purchase at the time I arrive?

Weekday tickets can be purchased at our field entrance. Weekend tickets must be purchased online - weekends are our busiest days and we have limited space.

Can I pick more than 10 tulips?

Yes! In fact, most guests do! Extra tulips cost $1 each which you can purchase before your visit or on-site.

How do I pick the tulips?

With your hands! You do not need to bring your own clippers. To pick a tulip, just pinch at the base close to the dirt, twist, and pull straight up. If you accidentally pull up a bulb, please pinch it off and leave it in the dirt.

Can we pull up the bulb along with the flower?

Tulip bulbs are not included with your ticket. When picking your tulips, please try to leave the bulb in the dirt where you found it.

Do you provide water for my picked tulips?

No, we do not provide guests with water for their tulips. If this is a concern for you or you are travelling long distances, we recommend you bring your own water.

Are tickets refundable?

Tickets are not refundable but can be exchanged for weekday availability. Preferred dates for rescheduling are not guaranteed for weekends.

Are there group rates available?

Yes, we have discounted ticket rates for organizations such as retirement homes, school field trips, etc. Please email melanie@berkelbloem.ca

Can I go on a sold-out day?

Unfortunately, no. Please check the website for updated availability.

What is your weather policy?

The tulip field is open rain or shine. Please keep in mind that tickets are not refundable, so keep the weather forecast in mind and plan accordingly.

What should I wear?

Our tulip field is located on our farm. Depending on weather, the parking lot and field could be muddy. We advise that you bring water, sunscreen, hats/sunglasses, etc. The field gets quite warm on a nice sunny day.

Is there parking?

Yes, parking is free and on-site.

Is the field accessible?

The farm is mostly accessible. There are some wider paths that will accommodate wheelchairs, wagons, and strollers, but please keep in mind the paths are uneven.

Are pets allowed?

Sorry, only service animals are allowed on the farm.

Is there food available?

We will have some food trucks! Watch our social media pages to see who and when they will be here. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic to enjoy on the farm during their visit.
